Question? When I replace the computer with a new one, how do I reinstall to use the e-Parcel client software as well?

Answer To replace the computer with a new one, install the latest version of the e-Parcel client software in a new computer and uninstall the existing e-Parcel client software from a previous computer. For more details, refer to the following operation procedures. The manuals listed below are also helpful.

[Operation overview]

In New PC, download and install both the e-Parcel client digital certificate and software.

In Old PC, to uninstall the software, select the Windows "Start" menu > e-Parcel > Uninstall VCN-xxxxx

* For Windows 8 or earlier: The "Start" menu > All Programs > e-Parcel > [software name] > Uninstall VCN-xxxxx

* If you cannot uninstall for the reason that the previous computer was broken or abandoned, just take the procedures for a new computer to newly install the certificate and software.

* Note that the existing e-Parcel client software will be offline (inactive) in a previous computer just after the same e-Parcel ID has been setup on the software in a new computer.

* Attention: To migrate the existing inbox/outbox histories and the configurations is NOT recommended when replacing the computer with a new one. Please note that the performance is not completely guaranteed in a new computer. We are afraid that any problem caused by the migration is not included in our customer support. Hereafter, you are responsible for operating the migration procedures introduced in the above manuals or the next Q&A page. (For e-Parcel VCN-CommCenter 7.0 or later, refer to this Q&A page. For e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0 or later, refer to this Q&A page.)
(Unless there is some particular reason, we recommend the following operation procedures introduced in this webpage as you see for just newly installing in a new computer.)

* Attention: Customers who use the existing ver. 4.5, the VCN-AX 4.5 has been upgraded to ver.5.0. However, updating from the existing ver. 4.5 to ver. 5.0 is NOT available. Because the database format has been changed. We are afraid that you cannot recover the inbox/outbox histories and the previous configurations of the existing ver. 4.5 in a new computer. Please newly install ver. 5.0 and configure in a new computer. For more details, please carefully read and take the procedures below.

* Attention: Note that you should uninstall (delete) the existing e-Parcel client software from the previous computer when replacing the computer with another one. The e-Parcel service has adopted the client digital certificate for mutual recognition between the server and a client. (Authentication) Therefore, one e-Parcel ID is NOT available to use in the multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup on the e-Parcel client software in only one computer. The details are described in this Q&A page.

* However, if you cannot uninstall the existing e-Parcel client software for the reason that the previous computer was broken or abandoned, just take the procedures for a new computer to newly install the certificate and software.

Procedure Procedures for a previous computer (Old PC) 
  1. Start a previous computer. (an old computer)

    * Attention: Please be advised that you should start the following procedures after uploading and downloading data have been confirmed on the e-Parcel software in a previous computer.

  1. [For e-Parcel VCN-CommCenter 7.0 or later]

    When you wish to configure in a new computer with the same configurations (Option Config, Address Book) as a previous computer, take the all procedures 1 to 4 below. If unnecessary, take the procedures 3 & 4 below.

    1. (*As necessary) If the current values of the "Option Config" have been changed from initial settings, on the VCN-CommCenter GUI, select the menu "Tools" > "Option" to open the "Option Config" dialog.

    Note down about the existing configurations ①the "General", "e-Mail Notification" & "Automation" tabs on the "Option Config" dialog as necessary.

    * However, if it has been started with initial settings, you don't need to do that.

    2. (*As necessary) Addresses are normally added to the "Address Book" when sending and receiving items. Additionally, if you wish to migrate the existing "Address Book" to a new computer, on the "Address Book" dialog, click the pull-down menu on the "New Address" button > select ②"Export List" & "Export Group" as necessary.

    * Export (save) the address list and group of Address Book as each file in CSV to a location where is easy to access such as Desktop. (Two files in CSV [comma separated value/UTF-8] format)

    * However, if the groups have not been created in the existing Address Book, you don't need to "Export Group".

    3. Proceed to the lower column [New PC Procedures] to install the latest version of the e-Parcel client software.

    * Note that the existing e-Parcel client software will be offline (inactive) in a previous computer just after the same e-Parcel ID has been setup on the software in a new computer.

    * One e-Parcel ID is NOT available to use in the multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup on the e-Parcel client software in only one computer.

    4. Uninstall (delete) the existing e-Parcel VCN-CommCenter from a previous computer (Old PC).

    Select the Windows "Start" menu > e-Parcel > "Uninstall VCN-CommCenter x.x".

    * For Windows 8 or earlier, select the Windows "Start" menu > All Programs > e-Parcel > VCN-CommCenter x.x > "Uninstall VCN-CommCenter x.x".

    * Attention: Before you start to uninstall (delete) the software, check the inbox items of "Delivery Confirmed" and then move (save) the files as necessary.

  2. [For e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0 or later]

    When you wish to configure in a new computer with the same configurations (System Config, User Config, HotFolder, Automation) as a previous computer, take the all procedures 1 to 5 below. If unnecessary, take the procedures 4 & 5 below.

    1. (*As necessary) Double-click the shortcut icon "VCN-AX x.x" on the desktop. (Or, on Windows taskbar, in the notification area, right-click the icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x", then select "Open" from pop-up menu.) New window "VCN-AX Management Console" is opened by the default browser application.

    Click the menu "Configuration" > ①"System Config" & "User Config". Note down the settings if you have changed.

    * As necessary, note down about the existing configurations such as HotFolder Location, Automation Location, proxy server configuration and SMTP server configuration etc.

    2. (*As necessary) Copy the following folders created for ②HotFolders and ③Automation folders.

      ②HotFolder Location : (Default folder path is C:\e-Parcel\HotFolders)

      ③Automation Location : (Default folder path is C:\e-Parcel\Automations)

    * Once the locations have been changed, copy two folders in the locations where you have specified.

    3. (*As necessary) Click the menu "Configuration" > ④"HotFolder" & "Automation". Export the configurations in CSV.

    * Export (save) HotFolder and Automation configurations as each file in CSV to a location where is easy to access such as Desktop.
    (Two files in CSV [comma separated value/UTF-8] format)

    4. Proceed to the lower column [New PC Procedures] to install the latest version of the e-Parcel client software.

    * Note that the existing e-Parcel client software will be offline (inactive) in a previous computer just after the same e-Parcel ID has been setup on the software in a new computer.

    * One e-Parcel ID is NOT available to use in the multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup on the e-Parcel client software in only one computer.

    5. Uninstall (delete) the existing e-Parcel VCN-AX from a previous computer (Old PC).

    Select the Windows "Start" menu > e-Parcel > "Uninstall VCN-AX x.x".

    * For Windows 8 or earlier, select the Windows "Start" menu > All Programs > e-Parcel > VCN-AX x.x >
    "Uninstall VCN-AX x.x".

    * Attention: Before you start to uninstall (delete) the software, check the inbox items of "Delivery Confirmed" and then move (save) the files as necessary.

Procedure Procedures for a current computer (New PC) 
  1. Start a current computer. (a new computer)

    Let's install your e-Parcel client digital certificate and the latest version of the e-Parcel client software.

  2. 1. Click the button just below to start the procedures. (STEP 1~6 on the webpage)

    The detailed instructions will be shown in figures at each step after login to the e-Parcel download site.

    * At STEP 4, when installing (importing) the digital certificate in Windows, you must sign in Windows with a user account which runs the e-Parcel client software.

  3. * Note: At STEP 6, while auto-setup software, if the Confirmation dialog may show the message "Previous installation found. Proceeding setup may cause it dysfunctional.", click the "OK" button to proceed.

  4. [For e-Parcel VCN-VCN-CommCenter 8.0]

    After the procedure 1 completed, when you wish to configure in a new computer with the same configurations (Option Config, Address Book) as a previous computer, take the all procedures 2 to 5 below. If unnecessary, take the procedures 2 & 5 below.

    2. When auto-setup complete, the status should usually show "Online" on the bottom-right of the VCN-CommCenter GUI.

    * If the status is "Offline" on the bottom-right of the VCN-CommCenter GUI, refer to this Q&A page and carefully read to take the necessary change.

    3. (*As necessary) On the VCN-CommCenter GUI, select the menu "Tools" > "Option" to open the "Option Config" dialog.

    On ①the "General", "e-Mail Notification" & "Automation" tabs, change to the same option configurations as a previous computer as necessary.

    * When changes are made, click the "Save" button on each menu to take effect.

    * Some changes of the Option Config require restarting the software to take effect. In this case, select "File" > "Exit" on the VCN-CommCenter GUI menu bar to shut down. Then, double-click the "e-Parcel x.x" shortcut icon on the desktop to restart the software.

    4. (*As necessary) On the "Address Book" dialog, click the pull-down menu on the "New Address" button > select ②"Import List" & "Import Group". Then, import the files of the previous Address Book in CSV as necessary. (Online Required)

    * Import the previous address list and group of Address Book as each file in CSV from a location where you have saved.
    (Two files in CSV [comma separated value/UTF-8] format)

    * However, if the groups have not been created in the previous Address Book, you don't need to "Import Group".

    5. Return to the upper column [Old PC Procedures 4.] to uninstall (delete) the existing client software from a previous computer.

    * Note that the existing e-Parcel client software will be offline (inactive) in a previous computer just after the same e-Parcel ID has been setup on the software in a new computer.

    * One e-Parcel ID is NOT available to use in the multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup on the e-Parcel client software in only one computer.

  5. [For e-Parcel VCN-AX 5.0 / 4.0]

    After the procedure 1 completed, when you wish to configure in a new computer with the same configurations (System Config, User Config, HotFolder, Automation) as a previous computer, take the all procedures 2 to 6 below. If unnecessary, take the procedures 2 & 6 below.

    2. When auto-setup complete, double-click the shortcut icon "VCN-AX x.x" on the desktop. (Or, on Windows taskbar, in the notification area, right-click the icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x", then select "Open" from pop-up menu.) New window "VCN-AX Management Console" is opened by the default browser application.

    Note: To open VCN-AX Management Console needs for Windows to start the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x".

    * For Windows 10 or later, select the Windows "Start" menu > "Windows Administrative Tools" > "Service".

    * For Windows 8 or earlier, select the Windows "Start" menu > "Control Panel" > "System and Security" > "Administrative Tools" > "Services".

    Click the menu "Authorization (Credential)", then confirm the "System Status" field to show "Online".

    * If the system status is not "Online", refer to this Q&A page and carefully read to take the necessary change.

    (On Windows taskbar, in the notification area, the icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x" is colored while the system status is "Online".)

    * For Windows 10 or later: If Windows does not show the e-Parcel icon in the notification area on the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar, then select "Taskbar settings" from menu. (Or, click Windows "Start" menu > Windows System > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Taskbar and Navigation) On the Settings "Taskbar" window, under "Notifications Area", click "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". The icons list is displayed. Turn on the "VCN-AX Manager x.x" toggle to apply change to "On".

    * For Windows 8 or earlier: If Windows does not show the e-Parcel icon in the notification area on the taskbar, click the arrow next to the notification area on the taskbar. (Or, click Windows "Start" menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > "Customize icons on the taskbar") On the "Notifications Area Icons" dialog, change the "VCN-AX Manager x.x" to "Show icon and notifications" as the behavior.

    3. (*As necessary) Click the menu "Configuration" > ①"System Config" & "User Config". As necessary, change to the same configurations as a previous computer.

    * When changes are made, click the "Apply" button on each menu to take effect.

    * Please be sure the "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location" in the Configuration "System Config".

    4. (*As necessary) Replace the following folders with the copied previous folders for ②HotFolders and ③Automation folders.

      ②HotFolder Location : (Default folder path is C:\e-Parcel\HotFolders)

      ③Automation Location : (Default folder path is C:\e-Parcel\Automations)

    * Once the locations have been changed, replace two folders in the locations where you have specified with the previous folders.

    * Caution: The "service" for e-Parcel VCN-AX 5.0/4.0 often runs with log on as Local System account by default. When you change the location of "Installation folder", "Database / Data storage folder", "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location", please be sure that Windows logon account of the "service" for e-Parcel VCN-AX must be authorized to "Modify" the specified folders.

    5. (*As necessary) Click the menu "Configuration" > ④"HotFolder" & "Automation". Import the previous configurations in CSV. (Online Required)

    * Import the previous HotFolder and Automation configurations as each file in CSV from a location where you have saved.
    (Two files in CSV [comma separated value/UTF-8] format)

    6. Return to the upper column [Old PC Procedures 5.] to uninstall (delete) the existing client software from a previous computer.

    * Note that the existing e-Parcel client software will be offline (inactive) in a previous computer just after the same e-Parcel ID has been setup on the software in a new computer.

    * One e-Parcel ID is NOT available to use in the multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup on the e-Parcel client software in only one computer.
