Question? When I change a computer, how can I recover the inbox/outbox histories recorded of the previous VCN-AX 4.0/4.5 on a new computer?

Answer When you change to a different computer and want to maintain your inbox/outbox histories and the settings of the existing VCN-AX 4.0/4.5, you need to take the additional procedures while the software installation. The following steps will guide you to transfer your previous configuration and histories to a different computer.

Note: Please be advised that you should avoid reinstalling the software while the VCN-AX 4.0/4.5 are uploading and downloading any data. You must start reinstalling the software after data deliveries have been confirmed to upload and download.

* Please note that the performance is not completely guaranteed when you have transferred the previous configuration and histories to a different computer by following the procedure below. We are afraid that any problem caused by this situation being change PC and maintain histories is not included in our customer support. Therefore, you must clearly understand the installation under this situation in advance and then take this procedure on your own responsibility.

操作手順 Procedure for a previous computer (Old PC) 
  1. Start your previous computer which you have installed the e-Parcel software on. (On an old computer)

    * Please be advised that you should move (save) your inbox items which status are "Delivery Confirmed" or "Item Opened" before changing to a new computer. When do so, the status of items will be updated to "Item Moved".

  1. 1. Stop the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" which is the existing e-Parcel client software.

    * Click the Windows "Start", click "Control Panel" > "System and Security (Performance and Maintenance)" > "Administrative Tools", and then double-click the "Services" shortcut to open. In the Services pane, select the "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" from the list and then stop the service.

  2. 2. Right-click the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" (grayed-out effect) on the Windows taskbar. Select the "Exit" from the pop-up menu shown.

    * At this point, the tooltip description "VCN-AX Not Working" is shown when mousing over the Windows taskbar notification area icon.

    When the VCN-AX Manager (axmanager.exe) stops, the e-Parcel notification area icon will disappear on the Windows taskbar.

    * For Windows: If the e-Parcel notification area icon will not be shown on the Windows taskbar, click the arrow next to the notification area on the taskbar. (Or, access the Windows Start menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > "Customize icons on the taskbar") In the pane "Notifications Area Icons" of Windows taskbar, select the "VCN-AX Manager [e-Parcel VCN-AX]" from the list and then change this setting to the "Show icon and notifications".

    * For Windows 10: If the e-Parcel notification area icon will not be shown on the Windows taskbar, right-click on the taskbar then select the "Taskbar settings" from the menus appeared. (Or, access the Windows Start menu > Windows System > Control Panel > Taskbar and Navigation) In the pane "Taskbar", locate the "Notifications Area", click on the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". The "VCN-AX Manager [e-Parcel VCN-AX]" will be listed. Change this setting to "On"

  3. 3. On a previous computer, copy ①a folder below as your backup. (At the later step, transfer this folder to a new computer.)

      ①Initial location (Database folder/Data storage folder) is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5

    * Once the location has been changed on the existing e-Parcel client software, locate where you have specified and then copy two folders below (②\db:Database folder/③\data:Data storage folder) as your backup. If ②③ folders are located in a same folder, copy a parent folder including two folders (①\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5) as your backup.

      ②Database folder : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5\db)

      ③Data storage folder :(Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5\data)     

  4. 4. On a previous computer, copy ④a folder for HotFolders and ⑤a folder for Automations below as your backup. (At the later step, transfer these folders to a new computer.)

      ④HotFolder Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\HotFolders)

      ⑤Automation Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\Automations)

    * Once the locations have been changed on the existing e-Parcel client software, locate where you have specified and then copy two folders as your backup.

  5. 5. You must uninstall (delete) the existing e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5 from a previous computer (Old PC).

    Click the Windows "Start", click "All Programs" > "e-Parcel" > " VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" > "Uninstall VCN-AX 4.0/4.5".

    * An e-Parcel ID is NOT available to multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup in only one computer when the e-Parcel client software is installed.

操作手順 Procedure for a present computer (New PC) 
  1. Start your present computer which you will install the e-Parcel software on. (On a new computer)

  2. 1. On a new computer, to obtain the latest e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5 and a client digital certificate, access your web browser, Windows Internet Explorer (IE).

    Visit the URL for "the e-Parcel Secure Enterprise - Software Download Site".

  3. 2. Click the menu "Download & Install Software". See the page appeared and then click the "Download e-Parcel Software" button.

    To download and install a client digital certificate, follow the instructions of STEP 1~5 on the web "e-Parcel software download site".

    * On the web site STEP 2, when selecting the client software, note that users of VCN-AX 4.0 on the previous computer must select VCN-AX 4.0 and users of VCN-AX 4.5 on the previous computer must select VCN-AX 4.5.

  4. 3. To download and install the e-Parcel client software, follow the instruction of STEP 6 on the web "e-Parcel software download site".

    * Attention 1: At STEP6, when you wish to change the location of Database folder and/or Data storage folder on a new computer, while software installation (on the Install Shield Wizard "Database Folder" and "Data Folder" location ), set each folder location where you wish on a new computer (click "Next" to set default folder / click "Change" to select a different folder). And then proceed to the installation.

    * Caution: The service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" is run as local system account with initial setting. When you change the location of Database folder and Data storage folder, HotFolder Location and Automation Location, make sure that the logon account of the service "VCN-AX" must hold permissions to "Modify" the folders specified.

    While auto-setup, the Confirmation dialog will show the message "Previous installation found. Proceeding setup may cause it dysfunctional.". Click the "Cancel" button on this dialog. When setup cancelled, click the "OK" button.

    When software installation complete on a new computer, the "Install Shield Wizard Completed" dialog appears. Click the "Finish" button.

  5. 4. From this step, let's take the additional procedure to transfer the configuration and the inbox/outbox histories of a previous computer.

    Stop the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" after installation of the e-Parcel client software.

    * Click the Windows "Start", click "Control Panel" > "System and Security (Performance and Maintenance)" > "Administrative Tools", and then double-click the "Services" shortcut to open. In the Services pane, select the "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" from the list and then stop the service.

  6. 5. Right-click the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" (grayed-out effect) on the Windows taskbar. Select the "Exit" from the pop-up menu shown.

  7. 6. On a new computer, locate ①a new folder below where you have specified while software installation. And then replace it (Don't overwrite!) with ①the previous folder copied as backup at [Old PC Procedure 3.].

      ①Initial location (Database folder/Data storage folder) is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5

    Note: Please don't overwrite! First, delete new folder. And then save the old folder copied previously. (Replace new folder with old one.)

    * Attention 2: If you have changed the location of Database folder and/or Data storage folder on a new computer while software installation at [New PC Procedure 3. Attention 1], locate two new folders (②\db: Database folder/③\data: Data storage folder) where you have specified on a new computer and then replace these (Don't overwrite!) with the previous folders copied as backup.

     (If ②③ folders are located in a same folder, replace a new parent folder (Don't overwrite!) with the previous parent folder including two folders (①\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5) copied as backup.)

      ②Database folder : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5\db)

      ③Data storage folder :(Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5\data)     

  8. 7. On a new computer, locate ④a folder for HotFolders and ⑤a folder for Automations below. And then replace these with ④⑤the previous folders copied as backup at [Old PC Procedure 4.].

      ④HotFolder Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\HotFolders)

      ⑤Automation Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\Automations)

    * If you change HotFolder Location and Automation Location on a new computer, locate where you specify on a new computer and then save (create) ④⑤the previous folders copied as backup at [Old PC Procedure 4.].

    * Caution: The service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" is run as local system account with initial setting. When you change HotFolder Location and Automation Location, make sure that the logon account of the service "VCN-AX" must hold permissions to "Modify" the folders specified.

  9. 8. Click the Windows "Start", click "All Programs" > "e-Parcel" > "VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" > "Launch AxManager" or "VCN-AX Manager 4.5".

    When the VCN-AX Manager (axmanager.exe) starts, the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" (grayed-out effect) will shown on the Windows taskbar.

  10. 9. Right-click the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" (grayed-out effect) on the Windows taskbar. Select the "Auto Setup" from the pop-up menu shown.

    * At this time, if the "Select a Certificate" dialog appears, select carefully a client certificate of your e-Parcel ID and then click the "OK" button to begin auto-setup.
    [For Windows 10] Click "More choices" on the "Select a Certificate" dialog to view all certificates. Then, select one.

    * If your network is set proxy server that requires user authentication, a "Proxy Authentication Required" dialog must appear. Enter your proxy user name and password and click the "OK" button to authenticate. If you forget your proxy user name and password to authenticate, obtain the appropriate information to ask a network administrator in your company.

    * Additionally, if using NTLM proxy-authorization, input a "Windows logon user account name@domain" as user name and password in the "Proxy Authentication Required" dialog. Then click the "OK" button to authenticate.

    While auto-setup, if the Confirmation dialog may show the message "Previous installation found. Proceeding setup may cause it dysfunctional.", click the "OK" button to proceed. When setup complete, the "Setup Complete Successfully." will be shown.

  11. 10. Start the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5".

    * Click the Windows "Start", click "Control Panel" > "System and Security (Performance and Maintenance)" > "Administrative Tools", and then double-click the "Services" shortcut to open. In the Services pane, select the "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" from the list and then start the service.

  12. 11. Double-click the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" on the Windows taskbar. The browser-based "VCN-AX 4.0/4.5 Management Console" opens. Click the menu "Authorization (Credential)" menu and then confirm the "System Status" field to be "Online".

    (When online, the notification area icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" will be colored on the Windows taskbar.)

    Note: Running the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" must be required to open the Management Console.

    * If the system status is not "Online", refer to this Q&A page and carefully read to take the necessary change.

  13. 12. When you have installed the software to set the location of Database folder and Data storage folder, HotFolder Location and Automation Location to ①④⑤Initial location on both new and old computers, proceed to the procedure 15.

    When you have changed the location of Data storage folder on either new or old computer, proceed to the procedure 13.

    When you change or have changed HotFolder Location and Automation Location on either new or old computer, proceed to the procedure 14.

  14. 13. When you have changed the location of Data storage folder on either new or old computer, click the menu "Configuration" > "User Config" on the Management Console. The User Configuration window appears. See the setting "Data Storage Path". Depending on the cases below, confirm or change (take either A or B) the setting "Data Storage Path".

    [A. In case that the "Data storage folder" has been set as same location as a previous computer while software installation on a new computer.]

    It should be shown correctly. Confirm that the setting "Data Storage Path" is a correct location on the User Configuration window. And then proceed to the procedure 14.

    (Either ③folder below or a location where you have specified should be shown.)

      ③ Data storage folder :(Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\VCN-AX 4.0/4.5\data)

    [B. In case that the "Data storage folder" has been set different location from a previous computer while software installation on a new computer.]

    At this point, the setting "Data Storage Path" has shown still an old location of a previous computer on the User Configuration window.

    Attention 3: It must be changed to a correct new location where you have specified while software installation on a new computer.

    In the setting "Data Storage Path", input full path of a Data storage folder (③\data) which you have already replaced at [New PC Procedure 6.]. Then click the "Apply" button to take effect.

    When change is made, proceed to the procedure 14.

    * Caution: The service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" is run as local system account with initial setting. When you change the location of Data storage folder, make sure that the logon account of the service "VCN-AX" must hold permission to "Modify" the folder specified.

    * Caution: Don't operate directly any data within the "Data storage folder". Therefore this system folder has been controlled by the e-Parcel system. When you wish to change the settings or move files from inbox etc, please be sure that you must operate through the Management Console.

  15. 14. When you change or have changed HotFolder Location and Automation Location on either new or old computer, click the menu "Configuration (System Config)" on the Management Console. The System Configuration window appears. See the settings "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location". Depending on the cases below, confirm or change (take either A or B) the settings "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location".

    [A. In case that the "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location" are set as same locations as a previous computer.]

    It should be shown correctly. Confirm that the settings "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location" are correct locations on the User Configuration window. And then proceed to the procedure 15.

    (Either ④⑤folders below or any locations where you have specified should be shown.)

      ④HotFolder Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\HotFolders)

      ⑤Automation Location : (Initial folder path is C:\e-Parcel\Automations)

    [B. In case that the "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location" are set different locations from a previous computer.]

    At this point, the settings "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location" have shown still old locations of a previous computer on the User Configuration window.

    Attention 4: It must be changed to the correct new locations where you specify on a new computer.

    In the settings "HotFolder Location" and "Automation Location", input full path of ④a folder for HotFolders and ⑤a folder for Automations which you have already replaced at [New PC Procedure 7.]. Then click the "Apply" button to take effect.

    When changes are made, proceed to the procedure 15.

    * Caution: The service "e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0/4.5" is run as local system account with initial setting. When you change HotFolder Location and Automation Location, make sure that the logon account of the service "VCN-AX" must hold permissions to "Modify" the folders specified.

  16. 15. On the Management Console, confirm that the previous inbox/outbox histories and configurations have been recovered successfully.

    Also on the HotFolder Configuration and Automation Configuration window, confirm that the status fields for the HotFolder and Automation entries (conditions) are green-colored (active) with checking of operation.

  17. 16. If you have not uninstalled the existing e-Parcel VCN-AX4.0/4.5 from a previous computer yet, return to the [Old PC Procedure 5.]. Uninstalling (delete) the existing software must be completed on Old PC.

    * An e-Parcel ID is NOT available to multiple computers. One e-Parcel ID must be setup in only one computer when the e-Parcel client software is installed.

  18. All procedures for reinstalling the VCN-AX4.0/4.5 on a different computer are completed.
