Question? At the end of the e-Parcel client software installation, the Error "Import Certificate Failed" dialog was shown without proceeding to auto-setup.

Answer You may have used the client software of the previous versions (VCN-CommCenter 7.0.7014 or earlier / VCN-AX 4.0.4005 or earlier). These previous versions would not support SHA2 signed digital certificates.

Note that VCN-CommCenter 7.0.7015 or later / VCN-AX 4.0.4006 or later support SHA2 signed digital certificates.

Presently, when you download the e-Parcel client digital certificates from this site, the vastly more secure SHA2 signed digital certificates could be downloaded with initial choice (the "For new users" selected) instead of SHA1.

For the previous versions of VCN-CommCenter 7.0 / VCN-AX 4.0:

It is highly recommended that you update the client software to the latest version. Choose the "Procedure A" below for operating procedure. (Recommended)

*Attention: The "Procedure A" below shows in the case of using the same e-Parcel product (CC7.0→CC8.0 / AX4.0→AX4.0) of the latest version in a same computer. When downloading the client software, users of VCN-CommCenter 7.0 must select "VCN-CommCenter 8.0", users of VCN-AX 4.0 must select "VCN-AX 4.0".

*Attention: If users of VCN-AX 4.0 wish to change the e-Parcel product to VCN-AX 5.0, newly installing and configuring are required in a computer. We are afraid that updating simply the existing VCN-AX 4.0 to ver.5.0 is NOT available. Also, be sure that it is required to change the contract and the license count (address count) which we register for use in advance. Please consult your system administrator or our sales representatives by e-mail (sales@e-parcel.co.jp).

* If there is difficulty to immediately update the client software for some particular reason, you must exchange with SHA1 signed digital certificate supported by the client software of the previous versions. Choose the "Procedure B" below for operating procedure.

Procedure A: Updating the client software to the latest version (*Recommended)

     For the previous versions of VCN-CommCenter 7.0 / VCN-AX 4.0

Procedure B: Exchanging with SHA1 signed digital certificate for the client software of the previous versions

* If there is difficulty to immediately update the client software for some particular reason, choose this for another procedure.

Procedure A: Updating the client software to the latest version (*Recommended)

[Users for the previous versions: VCN-CommCenter 7.0.7014 or earlier / VCN-AX 4.0.4005 or earlier]

The following procedure will guide you in updating the client software. Install the client software of the latest version, and then auto-setup (import) a client digital certificate (SHA2) which has been installed in Windows.

Procedure How to update the e-Parcel client software 
  1. Start a computer in which the existing e-Parcel client software runs.

    Let's install the latest version of the e-Parcel client software.

    * Attention: Please be advised that you should start the following procedures after uploading and downloading data have been confirmed on the e-Parcel software in a computer.

  1. 1. Click the button just below to start the procedure. (STEP 1~3 & 6 on the webpage)

    The detailed instructions will be shown in figures at each step after login to the e-Parcel download site.

  2. 2. On STEP 1 page, logon with your e-Parcel ID and password.

  3. 3. On STEP 2 page, select same client software as you are using and then click Next.

    Attention: You must carefully select the same client software as before. Users of VCN-CommCenter 7.0 are required to select "VCN-CommCenter 8.0". Users of VCN-AX 4.0 are required to select "VCN-AX 4.0". Also, confirm Windows OS in a computer to appropriately select either 64bit or 32bit.

  4. 4. On STEP 3 page, check the security of this site and then click Next.

  5. * STEP 4 operation is Not required if you have already done using the same e-Parcel ID in the same computer with the same Windows user account. Click Next to proceed to "STEP 6. Download Software" page.

    5. (As needed) On STEP 4 page, click Download to open your client digital certificate and then install (import) in Windows by following the procedure.

  6. * STEP 5 operation is Not required if you have already done using the same e-Parcel ID. Click Next to proceed to "STEP 6. Download Software" page.

    6. (As needed) On STEP 5 page, access the "e-Parcel Web Browser" to edit your user information and change a password.

  7. 7. On STEP 6 page, click Download to save the executable file for the latest version of the e-Parcel client software. If the browser prompts you for what to do with the file, select "Save".

    Then, click "Open file" shown on the browser. Or double-click the executable file to open.

  8. 8. On STEP 6 page, follow the [Instruction for installing e-Parcel Client Software] to begin the software installation. (Upon automatically uninstalling the existing software, it normally begins the latest software installation.)

    * While the existing software was being started, it may require your permission to automatically exit and restart the program in the beginning of installation. In that case, click OK to proceed the process. Upon automatically uninstalling the existing software, it will begin the latest software installation.

    * If it doesn't automatically exit the program although you click OK according to the above, you need to exit it manually by the operation just below. Then, begin installing.

    [For VCN-CommCenter 7.0 or later]

    To exit VCN-CommCenter, select the menu "File" > "Exit" on the VCN-CommCenter GUI.

    [For VCN-AX 4.0 or later]

    ①Stop the "Service" using the Windows interface.

    * For Windows 10 or later, select the Windows "Start" menu > "Windows Administrative Tools" > "Service". In the Services pane, select the "e-Parcel VCN-AX 5.0/4.0" listed and then stop the service.

    * For Windows 8 or earlier, select the Windows "Start" menu > "Control Panel" > "System and Security" > "Administrative Tools" > "Services". In the Services pane, select the "e-Parcel VCN-AX 5.0/4.0" listed and then stop the service.

    ② Exit the "VCN-AX Manager".

    On Windows taskbar, in the notification area, right-click the icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x", then select "Exit" from pop-up menu.

    * For Windows 10 or later: If Windows does not show the e-Parcel icon in the notification area on the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar, then select "Taskbar settings" from menu. (Or, select the Windows "Start" menu > Windows System > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Taskbar and Navigation) On the Settings "Taskbar" window, under "Notifications Area", click "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". The icons list is displayed. Turn on the "VCN-AX Manager x.x" toggle to apply change to "On".

    * For Windows 8 or earlier: If Windows does not show the e-Parcel icon in the notification area on the taskbar, click the arrow next to the notification area on the taskbar. (Or, select the Windows "Start" menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > "Customize icons on the taskbar") On the "Notifications Area Icons" dialog, change the "VCN-AX Manager x.x" to "Show icon and notifications" as the behavior.

  9. 9. When installation finished, the latest e-Parcel client software automatically get started. Confirm that it should normally show the system status "Online".

    * If the system status is "Offline", "Proxy Authentication Failed" or any other error status on the client software, refer to this Q&A page and check carefully.

  10. You complete to update the e-Parcel client software successfully.

Procedure B: Exchanging with SHA1 signed digital certificate for the client software of the previous versions

[Auto-setup for the previous versions: VCN-CommCenter 7.0.7014 or earlier / VCN-AX 4.0.4005 or earlier]

If there is difficulty to immediately update the client software for some particular reason, the following procedure will guide you in exchanging the client digital certificate. Remove a client digital certificate (SHA2) from Windows, download a client digital certificate (SHA1) supported by the client software of the previous versions, install it in Windows, and then auto-setup (import) a client digital certificate (SHA1) which has been installed in Windows.

* Recommendation for users of the previous versions: Updating the client software to the latest version is highly recommended.

1 Remove a client digital certificate from Windows
  1. 1. To remove a certificate using the Windows interface, select the Windows "Start" menu > Windows System >
    Control Panel > Network and Internet > "Internet Options".

    The "Internet Properties (Internet Options)" dialog is opened. Select the "Content" tab and then click the "Certificates" button in the Certificates category.

    Launch Microsoft Edge. On the upper-right of Toolbar, click […] (Settings and more) > Settings (gear mark) > Privacy, search, services > Security > Manage certificates

  2. 2. The "Certificates" dialog is opened. Select the "Personal" tab and find out your certificate listed.

    ·The "Issued To" column: Your e-Parcel ID

    ·The "Issued By" column: e-Parcel Global Service Authority

  3. 3. When selected carefully, click the "Remove" button. If the "Certificates" dialog shows warning, choose "Yes" to execute.

  4. 4. To close the Windows interface, click the "Close" button on the "Certificates" dialog and click the "OK" button on the "Internet Properties (Internet Options)" dialog.

2 Install a client digital certificate in Windows
  1. Next, download and install (import) your client digital certificate (SHA1) for the previous versions in Windows.

  1. 1. Click the button just below to start the procedures.

    * The detailed instructions of each step will be shown in figures at the "Download Client Certificates" page of this site.

    * When installing (importing) the digital certificate in Windows, you must sign in Windows with a user account which runs the e-Parcel client software.

  2. 2. The [STEP1. Login] page: Enter your e-Parcel ID and password and then click the "Login" button.

  3. 3. The [STEP2. Confirm your e-Parcel client software] Page: Select the appropriate e-Parcel software.

  4. 4. The [STEP3. Check the security of this site …] page: Confirm the security of this site which you are accessing now and then click the "Next" button.

  5. 5. The [STEP4. Download and install a client digital certificate] Page: You must choose the lower "*If you use a previousrelease …" in the Client Digital Certificate field. And then, click the "Cert for previous versions" button to download a client digital certificate (SHA1) for the client software of the previous versions.

    * Note: The e-Parcel software of the previous versions (VCN-CommCenter 7.0.7014 or earlier / VCN-AX 4.0.4005 or earlier) do NOT support SHA2 signed digital certificate. Therefor, SHA1 signed digital certificate is required.

    Carefully read the STEP4. "Instruction for installing Client Digital Certificate" on the webpage and then execute to install (import) it in Windows.

    ! Note: Please be sure to read below.

    While the "Certificate Import Wizard", when it requires the password, be sure to place a check in the "Mark this key as exportable ..." checkbox.
    (If do not, you will fail in auto-setup on the e-Parcel software at later STEP6.)

  6. 6. The [STEP5. Access the URL of e-Parcel Secure Enterprise …] Page: Click the "Next" button on the bottom.

4 Auto-setup a client digital certificate on the e-Parcel software
  1. To auto-setup on the e-Parcel software will automatically attempt to detect your client digital certificate and your network settings from Windows.

  2. 1. The [STEP6. Auto-setup the e-Parcel client software] Page: To auto-setup a digital certificate installed in Windows, select the menu below on the e-Parcel client software.

    * At the beginning of auto-setup, if the "Confirm Certificate" or the "Select a Certificate" dialog appears, confirm your e-Parcel ID, select a correct digital certificate, and then click the "OK" button. it will begin to auto-setup.
    [For Windows 10 or later] Click "More choices" on the "Select a Certificate" dialog to view all certificates. Then, select one.

    [For e-Parcel VCN-CommCenter 7.0 or later]

    To start the software, double-click the "e-Parcel x.x" shortcut icon on the desktop.

    On the VCN-CommCenter GUI, select the menu "Tools" > "Auto Setup".

    [For e-Parcel VCN-AX 4.0 or later]

    On Windows taskbar, in the notification area, right-click the icon "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x", then select "Auto Setup" from pop-up menu.

    * For Windows 10 or later: If Windows does not show the e-Parcel icon in the notification area on the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar, then select "Taskbar settings" from menu. (Or, select the Windows "Start" menu > Windows System > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Taskbar and Navigation) On the Settings "Taskbar" window, under "Notifications Area", click "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". The icons list is displayed. Turn on the "VCN-AX Manager x.x" toggle to apply change to "On".

  3. 2. When auto-setup complete, confirm that the e-Parcel software shows the system status "Online".

    (For VCN-AX, if Windows does not start the service "e-Parcel VCN-AX x.x", restart the service using the Windows interface.)

    * If the status is "Offline", "Proxy Authentication Failed" or any other error status on the client software, refer to this Q&A page and check carefully.

  4. All procedures for exchanging with SHA1 signed digital certificate are completed.
